Nurses rescue baby who stopped breathing on flight from Pittsburgh to Orlando

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) — A nurse’s quick action saved a baby on a flight from Pittsburgh to Orlando, Florida.

The baby stopped breathing Thursday night on a Spirit Airlines flight, according to Ian Cassette, a meteorologist at Fox 35 in Orlando. The plane left Pittsburgh just after 9:00 p.m.

Cassette said that when the baby’s parents were three rows in front of him, he stopped breathing and his lips turned purple. Cassette said a nurse on the plane jumped in and helped the three-month-old baby start breathing again.

He also said the flight attendants “should be commended for their swift action to help as well.”

Cassette said an emergency crew met the family when the plane landed in Orlando to check on the baby.
