Chicago shooting: 5-year-old Devin McGregor dies days after Rogers Park shooting, community activist says


Chicago (WLS) — A 5-year-old boy who was shot in Rogers Park last Sunday has died, community activists said.

Community activist Andrew Holmes confirmed Friday morning that Devin McGregor died from injuries sustained at Lurie Children’s Hospital.

the police said Devin was shot in the head near 7600 blocks on North Paulina Avenue A few days after school started on a Sunday night in Rogers Park.

He was sitting in the car visiting his mother while saying goodbye to his father, who had also been shot. A bullet from a black Hyundai passing by.

“You don’t know the pain this mother is going through, the pain this family is going through,” said Holmes. “Her mother has to get up in the morning and the baby is probably used to crawling into that bed with her and getting that hug. I’ve known his grandfather for over 20 years, so he I miss my grandchildren.”

A $3,000 bounty is currently being offered for information leading to an arrest in a shooting incident.

So far this year, 239 minors have been shot dead in Chicago, leaving 33 dead. No one has been arrested in this shooting.
